Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a pledge from the member to the farmers for produce, and in many cases, organically grown in and around the community. While in a CSA you pay an annual fee to get what is called a share of fresh vegetables from the farmers. The members pay up front so the farmer can purchase seeds, and a share is a very small part of the farmers crop. The member often works on the farm helping with weeding, harvesting and other chores. It develops a sense of where the food comes from, and helps you to understand how fresh the produce is. Because it is not spending hours on a truck, it is also helping the environment. The relationship between farmer and community ensures that growing farms will thrive.
Fresh and excellent quality products helps the community depend on agriculture.
