Ontario County Agriculture
Ontario County, nestled within the fertile soils of the Finger Lakes region of New York, is rich with agricultural history, and shows a bright future ahead!

This Community Atlas Project features maps collected as part of a 4-H Club program for youth studying geospatial sciences. The club consists of five young men and three young women who have been learning about the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global Information Systems (GIS) technologies.

The work is a companion guide to the Local Food Guide, compiled by the Agricultural Economic Development Specialist, Jim Ochterski, who is working with local farmers to market their products directly to consumers to provide the highest quality, freshest foods at the lowest cost and highest profit margins for the agricultural businesses. The Local Food Guide was invaluable to our youth as they worked on this project. The club would like to thank Jim Ochterski for his support.
